Here we go. Speedblogging 101.
Friday night was kind of crazy. My boy Royal Birdyl was having his album release party. This guy is a nut and I'm a big fan of his but I think he can definitely be categorized as one of those crazy artists i.e. the director Billy Walsh on Entourage. About two months ago Bird told me that he was going to release eight (yes, eight) albums on the same day and then retire. So I was very intrigued by this album release party that he was having at the Spider Club in Hollywood.
I knew things were taking a turn for the worst when he called me on Friday afternoon and told me that they took his guest list away from him so we had to make sure we were there by 10:30 p.m.
Ike, myself and Tweez got there around 10:30 p.m. and the place was somewhat empty but we found Bird smoking cigs in an adjacent room where they were playing techno music, which has to be my least favorite music genre. Somehow, this room was huge but the only person in the room was Bird. The other 30 people were in the hip hop room.
"Where's the album at dog!" I said in excitement and anticipation.
"Who knows?" Bird replied.
That was the last I asked him about the new album.
I love my guy though. I'm sure there is an album somewhere and it's probably good listening, he just doesn't know where it is.
Anyways the party never really cracked off so we headed to Cinespace where Ike has a hook-up on getting in and everything.
As soon as we hit the corner on Hollywood Blvd. the line was ridiculous and went around the other corner. Luckily Ike is that guy and we got in right away. Of course inside it was not even packed but it filled up quickly and the night was uneventful until the let out when...
Some girl stole my sunglasses off my head (yes, I do where shades in the dark club at various times, usually when I'm under the influence of some sort of uncontrolled substance). Me being in a lazy mood, said to her:
"So you're just gonna steal my shades?"
"Yeah." She replied and walked away.
Honestly I'm not about to chase some chick through the club so I figured she would bring them back and then I completely forgot about them.
Fast forward 30 minutes and we're on the street corner with Tweez doing his usual 'wait around for stragglers' routine.
I'm really just focused on one girl that is wearing an incredibly provocative gold dress when Ike is like "Kev, ain't those your shades?"
Well, I'll be damned.
So this girl is wearing my shades (same girl that stole them) and I get her attention and she doesn't want to give them back. So I tell her she's gonna have to give me her necklace, which I'm fully anticipating she'll say no to. She takes her necklace off and gives it to me. Her friends are in awe and trying to tell her not to. At this point I'm getting the vibe that she's feeling your boy so I get her name. Aubrey. She's like "Meet us at Roscoe's and we'll trade back." I ask Ike and Mark (the girl is cute so I'm thinking this might work out after all) if they want to and Ike has to wake up early so we decide we're gonna tell the girls we'll meet them, but just drive by, make the trade, secure some contact information and then go home.
Negative.
We get to Roscoe's and I go in and probe the place for her. No sight of her. However, one has to realize that Roscoe's at 3 a.m. is filled with girls that just got out of the club. It was very hard for me to focus on searching out Aubrey when everyone was looking at me and half of the patrons were girls in low-cut tops and mini skirts, the same outfit that Aubrey had on.
Anyways, she isn't in there. So Tweez and I wait while Ike is sleeping in the car. And wait. And wait. And wait...
No Aubrey after 30 minutes. We're out and now I'm pissed off. Obviously the necklace is a piece of sh*t so she gave me the good old wop and bop.
However, I will be back to Cinespace and I will find her.
Saturday and Sunday consisted of nothing but cleaning and playing some cards, which I'll detail tomorrow probably.
It's kind of weird because now I'm running hot online and cold in live games.
The $50 that Bodog gave me is now at like $720. Details later.
Peace.
