It's not easy dealing cards

v.

When I was in Vegas we we're all hanging out, relaxing. There was some drinking and smoking involved and I was not in a clear mindstate.

Player #1 asks me "Kevin, do you know Chinese poker?"
Me: "Yes."
P1: "Do you wanna deal for us?"
Me: "Sure."

So now we have player #1 vs. player #2. I'm really just dealing for fun, but then my boy tells me that if player #1 goes on a heater, I'll be happy as well (read between the lines). They are playing for $500 (or was it $50? I was so gone) a point in Chinese poker and their point system was way too complicated for me to keep up. I'm dealing each of them two hands per deck and they have a system where each hand goes against both the other players hands and certain hands are worth certain amounts of points. I don't know what's going on.

I start dealing and immediately player #2 is winning and extremely chipper about it, telling me what a great dealer I am. Player #1 is not happy and this makes me a bit unhappy seeing as (1) I'm biased towards him anyways and (2) what my boy had just told me.

Then my boy asks me "Who's winning?" I tell him that player #2 is winning and he says "That's good." I'm a little baffled as to how that could be good and he explains to me why it's good and now it makes sense, only we are running short on time because we are about to go out to the club.

Somehow the deck of cards ends up in the sink and wet (I was a bit lifted), so I grab the other deck that is sitting on the counter. I deal the two hands out and sit back. Then player #1 notices that his second hand only has 12 cards.

"I only have 12 cards. Where's my other card?"

We're all looking around for another card. Player #1 is already irritated because he's losing and player #2 is talking a good amount of sh*t.

"Where's the other card KEVIN?"

I'm not feeling too good about this situation because I have no idea where this damn 13th card is, but luckily player #2 finds the 13th card on the couch.

Player #1 is not happy about it and manages to make a decent comeback, so I'm a bit off the hook but I definitely failed as my first stint as a dealer. It probably wasn't as big of a deal as I thought it was but I felt like a dumbass for dealing out 12 cards and not realizing it.
