Giving back to the community

*Poof* There goes the win streak.

I sat down at a good looking table and it only got better when Jose Canseco sat down and shortly after was joined by his good buddy.

Both players played every hand and if one didn't raise to $15 or $20 pre-flop, the other one did. They both called every raise pre-flop as well. I'm talking about calling $45 (9 X the BB) with Q-2 suited.

I went down early, then got up about $100 when I tripled up with KsJs against pocket aces. I wouldn't even have been in the hand had Canseco and his buddy not called the $50 re-raise from the small blind aces. So I decided to call on the button with my hand and flopped two spades with two overs (not knowing if raiser had aces or not).

After that I went downhill when I called in middle position with 9-8 offsuit. Everyone limps and the big blind makes it $25. The funny thing is that I knew he had something because he never raises, but raising to $25 on this table is like limping. So I called, as did the entire table. The flop comes 5-8-9 with two diamonds and I'm looking good. The original raiser bets $125, the guy after him calls the $125 and now I'm trying to decide what to do. I have four people left to act after me and I'm thinking I'll call the flop, then if no diamond comes on the turn I'll push. So I call the $125. The button (Jose's buddy) then moves all-in for $300. He could have anything here. After the button, the small blind, who is a tight player, shoves for $400. I'm 100% sure he has either a straight or 99. The original raiser reluctantly folds and then the guy after him calls the all-in. Ugh. Now I have top two facing a call of $275 for a pot of $1500. I take four years and finally fold. I was helped out by Jose's buddy telling the small blind "You got a set of eights don't you?" which obviously means he has a set of fives. The small blind said "No" and I knew he had the straight. They turn them over and Jose's buddy has 55, small blind has 6-7 and the other guy wins it with AdQd on the turn (and rivers another diamond).

After that I just tricked off money playing too loose with all the pre-flop raises and re-raises. Such an easy table, I hate to leave money there but I did. Never even caught any premium hands and definitely didn't have any bad beats, just played too loose and ended up dropping $700, mostly chasing draws because I was playing so many hands. Pretty embarrassing that this was one of the worst tables I've ever sat at and I didn't make any money.

** Some steroid discussion at the table... Jose basically agreed with everyone that the average baseball fan doesn't give a shit about steroid use and that the media has blown it out of proportion. He also said that he has no reason at all to lie (and he seemed pretty sincere) and that the trainer who is vouching for A-Rod seems to be coming from a monetary angle.

lol @ conseco and mcgwire sitting down. I would expect them to be playing at a high stakes table. But, then again, if they play like that, they probably know better.

Actually that does kind of look like McGwire in that pic. I can assure you it wasn't.

I've never seen Canseco at the game I play, he's usually at one lower and I've seen him at one higher before. Hiw gf/wife usually plays it though.
