Last week I was at Hollywood Park with my boy and his girlfriend was sitting with him watching him play. She's good at sitting with him patiently while he plays and she pointed out that there are some funny characters that play poker.
I couldn't agree more. Spending enough hours on the poker table to fill a part-time job, I witness a lot of these characters and their miscellaneous antics. Some of them beg for money, some spend it like it's coming out of their kitcen faucet. Some players bring different girls with them to the tables, some bet on the horse races all day and don't even pay attention to the poker game going on. There's the players that are playing with their rent money, the guys who are there just to avoid going home to their wife and kids, then there's the women who flirt with those same guys. The bottomline is we get a diverse group of people at any given time sitting at a table and socializing together. In one chair could be a real estate mogul and sitting next to him could be a guy on welfare trying to make $200 for this month's groceries. And it all results in some pretty good comedy.
So I was thinking it might be funny to profile some of these characters on here when I have nothing else to write about.
I haven't been going out much so those stories are dragging.
I did start my softball season with a disappointment. I told myself I wasn't going to get out this season. That thought was over by my second at-bat when I flew out. I bat clean-up on both of my teams and I came up in the bottom of the last inning with two runners on base, down by two runs and one out. I swung hard at the first pitch and popped up to the pitcher, murdering our rally as the next batter also popped up. I felt like an ass.
Basketball season also started back up and I'm on three teams. Our L.A. Fitness team is looking to 4-peat and I think we're 2-0 already. Then I'm on two teams in chineseballers.com (I know, comedy) and one team is 0-3, the other one (Corner Sleeper, V, and Faded T are all on the squad) is 2-1.
My last poker session was cool, I won $640 and then played one hand of BJ for $100 and won that so it was good. I'm not sure what prompted me to play the hand of black jack since I thought I was gonna lose but it worked out.
Peace, Lebanese cheese and Chinese hair grease.

lol. Anyway I can get in on this with you? I met some interesting folks last week. Maybe I'll just post mine on the main page?
Why not put it on "on the rocks" that is YOUR blog, LOL.
True, but I don't know that it fits the content of OTR, given that it's not drinking-related.
