The Double Deuces

When we were in New York, we kept noticing these guys that would be sleeping on the benches in the subway. They were obviously very tired from the night before and we decided to take some pictures with them.



Then, we decided to ride the Staten Island ferry, which is free and goes right by the statue of liberty.

When we were getting off the ferry on Staten Island, Ike noticed that this girl was sound asleep on the ferry bench. So he woke her up and told her that we had arrived and she should wake up.

Only she (seemingly annoyed) said "Yeah, I know," and went right back to sleep.

Then as we're about to leave, Ike gets the brilliant idea to take one of the "sleeping bums" pictures with her while she's asleep.

Big Time and I look at each other like 'this dude is crazy,' and I tell Big Time that if she wakes up, she's gonna punch Ike in the jaw.

So Ike runs over to her, sits down real quick and Dallas Kid snaps the picture. The thing is, the instant that DK took the picture, the chick woke up and went into a lightning-quick pose, throwing not one, but two deuces at the camera. As soon as the camera flashed, she went back to sleep and when Ike turned around as he was walking away, she looked like she was sleeping.



Big Time, DK and myself were all laughing extremely hard and we thought that Ike knew she had woken up for the picture, but he never knew until he saw the picture hours later. The funny thing is, the whole time he thought he had taken the picture with her while she was asleep, but she woke up right on cue and the picture looks like it was meant to be taken like that. The other funny thing about it is that we thought she's be irate that we were taking a picture of her, but instead she woke up and posed for the picture.

After that, all of our pictures contained at least one person throwing the "double deuces."

We also decided that although we never even said more than "Wake up, the ferry's here," to this chick, she was the coolest person in the city of NY.
