We left work at 6:00 p.m. thinking that we'd be able to get to the game by 7 p.m. driving straight down Sunset.
I did not park my car until about 8:15 p.m. AFTER Barry Bonds had already gone up to the plate twice.
It puts me on tilt to even think about all the traffic that I sat in. I sat on Sunset for 45 minutes, sat on Stadium Way for 45 minutes, then sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes after paying $15 and parking about two miles away from the Stadium in a parking lot that I'm sure no one ever knew existed before last night. So not only did I get to sit in my car for 2.5 hours, but I also got to walk a good mile or so after I parked.
This is the stadium view from the parking lot where I parked (I'm not joking):
The good news is that Bonds did not hit his record-tying homerun while I was in the car. If he had, I think I would have driven my car directly into Dodger Stadium and forever gone down in sports infamy along with the Parachute guy that crashed the boxing match, the guy that ran on the field to hug Hank Aaron and the guy that ran around Wimbledon naked. Yep, I would've been up there with them as the guy who drove his car through the outfield wall after Bonds hit his 755th.
Other than that, the game was pretty uneventful. The Dodgers didn't throw one good pitch to Bonds and he went 0-2 with two walks. I left in the 7th inning to beat traffic after my hike back to the car. I gotta give some props to Young V, who came through with the tickets that were right behind home plate. My mom thought she saw me on TV until I told her that I wasn't wearing blue, lol. And obviously Bonds got booed whenever he took a step. Dodgers lost (not that I cared).
I have to give it to Dodgers fans, they are the most fun at a game. I've been to Mariners, Giants, Athletics, Padres, Angels, Royals, and Twins games (maybe some others I don't remember) and the Dodgers fans by far stick out as the most passionate. I'm sure that teams like the Yankees and Red Sox also have similar fans.
Tonight I'm going to boxing class and the club. I'm getting older and fatter and there was a point on time when girls liked my stomach. I gotta get back in shape.
Oh yeah my boy Trev convinced me to play in his fantasy football league. So what happens? I get the 13th pick out of 14. In FOOTBALL. Great. Hopefully Ricky Williams and Mike Vick will come through for me this year.
