Day 24: Weekend Wrap-Up

I don’t know why I play online at all. I never win. I feel like I can beat it and I know there are thousands of people who do and make good money, but I never can beat it. I think it has to do with bankroll management. Anyways, fuck online poker. That shit almost tilted me for the entire weekend on Friday night. Cats were drawing out on me to three-outers like it was the thing to do.

I actually realized that I lost $410, not $310 as I reported when I was on monkey tilt. I had $210 in the account, lost that, then reloaded $200 and lost that. Why do I mess with the tilternet??

I guess it's the competitor in me. I know it can be beat and I'm determined to do so.

Anyways I salvaged that night by having a solid winning session on Saturday morning.

I got home at 4 p.m. Saturday, went directly to sleep (and flaked on a few people for Saturday night plans) and woke up at 7 a.m. on Sunday and made it to my baseball game by 9:30 a.m. We lost 7-6 to our rivals. It sucked. We should have beaten them but everything was going wrong. We always find a way to blame the umpire but I don’t believe in blaming umpires or referees. That’s an easy out and I think its bullshit. It’s like blaming the “poker gods” or the dealer.

After the game I went to Hollywood Park and jumped in the $400 No Limit game for the second time (5/10 blinds). For the record I lost $400 last week on my first time on the $400 table. The infamous “Counselor” was in the game (his nickname is “The Counselor”) and he was raising every single pre-flop to like $50 or $60. He was losing a lot of money and I was in the small blind with aces when he raised to $100. I went all-in for $700 and he insta-folded.

After that hand I risked way too much money on some open-ended straight draws and before I knew it I was in for $1000 with my $600 reload in front of me. The game was really juicy with Counselor raising so much. I wasted too much money on my draws and was back down to like $270 but still went all-in with KcQc on a Jc7cX flop and $250 in the pot pre-flop (5x$50). I got one caller and tripled up when a club hit the turn. From there it was all up hill and I ended up 1515 in six hours of play.

I had to leave at 10:30 p.m. to meet up with T to hit Zanzibar, which was pretty wack but it’s still cool based on the vibe they got going at that place.

As far as poker goes, this weekend was great. Actually, overall this was a good weekend.

Let me revisit my goals.

“This weekend I'm going to make myself the goal of coming up $1000 live and $200 online. Other goals for the weekend include running four miles total between Saturday and Sunday, getting two hits in my baseball game, winning the basketball game (playoffs), and pulling down three numbers.”

$1000 Live = Accomplished x3
$200 Online = Hell no, -410
Running four miles = 0 miles
Two hits = 1 hit
Three numbers = 1 number
Laundry = 0 loads
Computer set up = yes.

Damn, now it looks like my weekend sucked. Even though my goals weren’t even close to getting accomplished, it was a good weekend.

Looking back on the last month, I am on a huge rush. I'm going to Hollywood Park tonight to get back in the $400 game (from what I saw, it was not a tough game) and on Thursday I'm headed to Las Vega$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
