This weekend my boys and I went down to San Diego for a party and we ended up staying Sunday and going to “Wave House” on Sunday. Everyone was drunk and actin’ a fool so I will have stories and pictures probably tomorrow. Faded T was in fine form and San Diego really missed the boat on impressing us Seattle folk. The club on Saturday night was a piece of hot shit. Somehow, some way, the Denny's parking lot on Sunday morning was our saving grace.
As far as the poker goes, I played really well on Saturday morning. I snuck off to Hollywood Park in the morning before I had to leave with Big Time to one of our friend’s wedding. I made $431 that day in 2.5 hours.
Had a couple big hands. The first was 9c6c with a ton of limpers. Flop comes 4-6-8 with two clubs. One guy bets $10 (tiny bet). I call, button calls. Turn is a 9 of diamonds. Guy pushes all in for like $200, I call and hit a 6 on the river. Bettor had a flopped straight. Second hand I raise under the gun to $35 with 23 off-suit because the table was way too tight. Funny thing is, four people call me. The last person, who was in the big blind was so close to pushing all-in but then he just called. Flop comes A45 with two diamonds. I check, everyone checks. Damn! Turn is the 9c, putting two flush draws on the board. I push all-in and no one calls.
Last night I got back from San Diego at about 8:30 p.m. I should have just gone to sleep as I was exhausted as hell from a long weekend. But what did I really do? Go put in a session. A pretty bad one. I've been trying to put in a session every day and I wanted to go yesterday but that was just a stupid decision. I ended up losing $500 in four hours at an extremely easy table. I only lost money on bluffs. It really sucked. I was just really tired and my game was not on point at all. This is how bad I was. On my final hand I had 88 and pushed all-in on a flop of 10-2-3 against a player who had re-raised me pre-flop. This was the worst player and I can never put him on a good hand because he's so bad but this was obvious that he had something. He insta-called with KK. The worst part about it is that I was so tired that I was happy to be able to go home and go to sleep. Terrible.
**I just remembered something about last night that makes me feel like a donk. I went up about $250 in the first hour and text messaged Corner Sleeper with the following message: "I'm so good it's gross."
I don't think I won a single hand after that. I sent him the following three messages in order:
"Damn I jinxed myself and am now back to even lol"
"Fuck me I jinxed it lol"
"Damn lost 500"
The one good thing about last night was that I ran into a guy (I think his name is Drake) that I used to see a lot at the casino and he always gave me really good advice on poker and how to deal with poker. Last night was no different and he was making some really good points about making sure I don't let poker play me as far as losing my youth to poker. It sounds somewhat ridiculous but he's exactly right in that it's all too easy to become so consumed in poker that before you know it that's all that you're doing. His advice was that if I was going to take poker seriously and try to be a pro, that's one thing. But if I was just doing it for fun and to make some extra cash then I should be careful not to let it take over my youth (and I'm not even that young). He's just a really good guy that seems to have a genuine care about my quality of life, which is nice. He's about 40 and plays in the bigger games but sat in our game just to relax.
Here are some random pictures from my Saturday session, lol.
