Fly High

The last few weeks I've been to the airport a lot and I'll be going to NY on Thursday, stopping in Detroit both ways and then traveling more this summer.

A lot of people think traveling sucks. Not me.

I have to admit that I'm pretty bad company on the plane. If you're sitting next to me and hope to generate any kind of conversation...good luck.

To be honest, I always look forward to flying because I know I can get a good nap in. Unfortunately for those around me, I have developed a new snore that is both loud and probably obnoxious. Obviously I don't know if I snore while I'm on the plane, but I can only assume that I do.

There's something about noise that puts me to sleep. A lot of people can't sleep when it's noisy. I'm the opposite. So the constant sound of the jet engine going always does it to me. If I can't fall asleep before we leave, the tilt-back of taking off from the runway to the clouds always does it -- it's that unintentional recliner that they get me with.

When I'm home in L.A., I don't sleep much. I'd say I average about 4-5 hours a night. That's average, not get. So some nights I'll get two hours, some nights I'll get 11 and some nights I won't sleep. This is why any time I have a trip coming up all I'm thinking about is that good nap on the plane.

In Seattle I started the nap a little prematurely, falling asleep on my dad while we were driving to the airport during our bonding time. I was out before the plane left the runway.

Now my challenge is going to be sleeping all the way to Detroit, waking up, and then sleeping again from Detroit to NY. Can I do it? It's an obvious yes.

My pet peeves on the plane include: attendants who wake me up to ask if I want a beverage, passengers who have to wake me up to go to the bathroom, sitting in the aisle and having the beverage cart bang into my knee everytime they go by, crying babies, sitting next to fat guys (and women, I don't discriminate) -- all the usual.

I spent the weekend in Seattle... Flew out Friday night and few back last night. Didn't get a chance to play any cards but I'm going tonight fa sho.

P.S. no pun intended in that title.
