Life without TV is quite interesting. At times it gets boring but at other times it really helps my productivity and it for damn sure helps my sleeping habits.
I don't think I've ever gotten so much sleep than I have in the past two weeks.
You probably guessed right, we didn't pay the cable bill.
Unfortunately for my sleeping habits and productivity, we're turning it back on on Friday.
Some of the things that not having TV has caused me to do:
- Work overtime at work
- Play more basketball
- Watch Superbad a total of 11 times in the past week (I get too lazy to change the DVD)
- Fire up my old Game Cube and play Mario Kart
- Finish the front page of crookedstraight.com, which now will have a daily video
- Clean my room, nearly every day
- Do my laundry
- Watch "Snatch" five times
- Plug my old VCR back into my TV due to the fact that I watched all my DVDs (most multiple times) and started watching my old VHS tapes
- Clean my desk
- Write lyrics
- Clean the kitchen with my roommate
- Clean my bathroom
- Dust my room
- Read
Sadly, these are all things that I would not have done if we had cable going.
My estimate is that within a week of having cable back on, my room will be a mess, my bathroom will be a mess, the kitchen will be a mess and I'll be tired as hell. However, I'll know the latest on the new season of Flava Flav.
Who said TV kills the brain?

I went 4 months without cable when i was in SD and all I learned was the entire screenplay of Anchorman by heart. My house was still dirty and i struggled to do laundry. You are a better man than me Kev. But now that your cable is back you'll be just like the rest of us. Besides, what would your bathroom be without a year's worth of shaved facial hair piled up in the corners of the sink?
hahaha those days are long gone
