In Memory

This is something that I want to share with anyone reading or listening. In memory of two great friends that I lost.

I wrote and recorded this in their memory, it's nothing big but I want to keep them in my memory.

Lyrics:
I'm on a mission, but my vision is blurry...
And I don't know why but my life is lived in a hurry...
Like, I got places to go, but ain't taken the road...
That was paved by those that painted me gold...
I guess I,
tainted my soul when I was eighteen and makin' it known...
That I don't give a fuck about ya cuz I'm chasin' my goals...
Kinda selfish, I know that now...
And it took a couple shots for me to grow that out...
Thought I could take it to the top for the whole damn town..
Reality knocked and now I gotta hold Mac down...
He just lost 25, Stretch lost his life...
So what the fuck is one track if it cost a night?...
I'm a walk for you, and goddamn it I'm a talk for you...
Plus we got two squads shootin' rock for you...
And guaranteed Slick and Jap on the block for you...
So I'm a tell 'em to make peace with Dok for you...

I done hit rock bottom bout twice in life...
Feelin' like there ain't shit goin' right in sight...
So I can tell how you fell for the bait that night...
If it's hell might as well go and take that fight...
Mac, young strong til the day went wrong...
Now it's 24 years and the same old song...
That they singin' upstate, pray it ain't so long...
Cuz they got you locked up where you ain't belong...
Man life's gettin' crazy, it ain't the same...
I'm feelin' fucked up, but I can't taste your pain...
I been drained, stressed out, goin' insane...
Just writin' these raps gettin' blowed in the rain...
Really a damn shame, but you probly relate...
It's like I'm workin out and trainin' just to box with fate...
Sit back, contemplate, I'm gettin' on my grind...
For Stretch and the rest that put they bet on a rhyme...

R.I.P.
Lee "Stretch" Denmon III

Here is an excerpt from the Long Beach Press-Telegram:

Jersey No. 5 was retired at Morningside High last week to honor the late Lee Denmon, a 1997 graduate of the school who died in 2003 as the result of a random shooting in front of his Los Angeles-area home.

Denmon, a smooth lefty I watched numerous times with the Monarchs and during Slam-N-Jam action at Dominguez High and Compton College, was coaching with his prep alma mater at the time of his slaying.

"He was a great guy and would have been a great coach," Leuzinger High Coach Reggie Morris Jr. said.

Denmon, the 1997 Daily Breeze Player of the Year, played at L.A. Southwest College for Morris' father, and later played for two seasons at the University of Texas A&M/Corpus Christi.

Kev-good looking out on this article. Stretch was a real good friend and solid dude. Fucked up he had to go out like that, but life can be funny like that sometimes. RIP Stretch.
