I showed up to Hollywood Park Casino at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. I left at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
I made $740, which equates to $27.41/Hr.
Obviously I'm not happy with the result of making $27.41 an hour but considering the way that things started off and the way that they were going at times, I'm very content with the result.
It's funny because there were a bunch of people that I played with on Saturday and then on Sunday morning they came back and I was still there (including the entire dealing staff and floormen). One interesting fact is that the table that I started playing on ran the whole way through the 27 hours and for a large part of the early hours of Sunday it was the only table running.
The trend for me was grinding and building my stack only to lose it in a monster three-way all-in pot. This happened twice and sucked ass.
The first time I flopped a straight draw and a flush draw. I bet $20, was raised by the button to $75, who was called by one other player and myself. I turned the flush and the first player went all-in for $105. I was pretty sure he had my 8-high flush beat but at this point I wanted to create a side-pot with the other player so I called, hoping she would raise. She called as well and my worst nightmare hit when the river paired the board. I checked, she bet $100, which was a great bet because I had to call at this point when the pot was about $700 or so. The worst part was she had a jack-high flush and the all-in player had a 10-high flush.
The second monster I lost I had 55 on the button. I called a $20 raise with the two worst players at my table in the pot with me. The flop comes 4-5-7 with two diamonds. The original raiser bets $20, the other player calls and I raise it to $120. The raiser calls (I put him on an over pair), the other player then goes all-in for $93 more, which sucked because I couldn't re-raise. I call, the other player calls. The turn comes a third diamond. Being the donkey that I am, I didn't put the original raiser on diamonds because of the way the hand played out. He checked and I bet $150 before he went all-in over the top for another $150. At this point I knew he had the flush but I called for the pot and it turned out I was drawing to one out because the first all-in player had 77 and the original raiser had AdQd. The board didn't pair and the original raiser won the pot. It was good that he won because I ended up getting a lot of it back from him, so in retrospect I'm glad that the board didn't pair...unless the five paired, lol.
A monster that I won at about noon on Sunday was pretty funny. The guy on my right has already racked up his chips and even traded some of his chips for other player's $100 bills. I think he has about $600 or so. He has a flight to catch and is playing one last hand before the blinds get to him. He's not even sitting in his seat anymore. He looks at his cards and raises to $30. I know that he has to have QQ, AK, AA, or KK because of the type of player he is, the fact that he raised UTG, and the fact that it's his last hand. I have 99 and call, as do several other players. The flop comes 9-5-2, rainbow. Sweet. He bets out $100 and I hollywood and call. The turn is a Q and he instantly goes all-in, which worries me a little that he has QQ but I can't fold my second set here and I call. The river is a rag and he shows aces and I take it down. I felt bad for him but what can I do? I'm just a guy playing his hand.
