A Little Poker

I played a session on Monday night and stole some big pots in the $200 NL game to leave +258 after 30 minutes. I sat at the $400 and immediately began getting cracked. QQ went down to Jd3d with all the money in pre-flop. How does that happen? I don't know. Somehow he not only flopped a flush but turned a one-card straight just for kicks. Same guy consistently cracks me. Very interesting. Reminiscent of "Bobby" a while back. I always win though so I am real content with this situation. The guy, who will go unnamed at this time, seemingly cracks me on purpose. So anyways I ran bad and really didn't catch many cards that night and lost $1k on the $400 NL table.

Last night I went back and had a crazy hand. One of the best reads if not the best read I've made in my life. Here's my description of it:

I got AQ suited (spades) in the big blind on my first hand on the new table with 600 behind. Four people limped and I raised to $60. One guy called and the flop came 10 high with two hearts. I believe it was 56T. I continuation bet $75 to see where I was at and the other player called. The turn was a 9 of diamonds and I looked at my stack, thought about going all in but eventually bet 100 with about 350 behind. He asked me how much I had left and then raised 150 more. I thought for a long time and couldn't put him on any hands that were on the board. If he has the flop beat, or if he even has a 10, then he would have raised me on the flop. If he flopped a set, he would have raised me on the flop for two purposes (1) hoping that I had an overpair and would push or (2) to get me off a possible flush draw. If he was strong enough to beat the board or even if he had top pair, he would have put me all-in at some point with the flush draw and assuming that I have two overs. I think his read was good in the fact that I had AQ and he was pretty sure I was weak but he misplayed the hand and my read was good also. Also I took into heavy consideration the fact that he didn't raise pre-flop, he limp called. Because of that the only hand ranges that I could put him on that would hit the flop would be A-10 suited, 55 or 66. I don't think he even calls with 56 suited or QT/KT suited. The only hand that I really considered would have me beat the way he played it was J10 suited. That's the only hand that he would smooth call me on the flop with to get a read. If he has A-10, K-10, 55 or 66 he's raising me on the flop. So now I put him on a flush draw and went all-in for like 200 more. He called pretty quickly actually and the 10 of hearts hit the river. I thought I was dead to a flush but when I showed he mucked. He must have had QJ.
