But I was determined to get my session in so I drove straight from work to “The Park.”
When I got there I was about fifth on the $200 No Limit list and it wasn’t moving so I sat down at a $6/12 limit game and lost $14 in 25 minutes. Those limit games really amaze me. It’s almost all old players and it’s pretty evident that none of them are winners. I think the casino is the only winner in the small limit games. I might play a long session in that $6/12 sometime soon because those old bastards just call me all the way down with bottom pair every time. The guy on my right was about 145 years old and I could see his cards every single hand (yeah, I was looking). He was playing every single hand and calling every bet on the flop until he was sure he wouldn’t hit his top card. It was just ugly.
Some $2 chips on the $6/12 game:
I got to the $200 NL game and quickly recognized the table donk when I had KQ in early position (I was in the two seat) and I limped. The flop came king high with a rainbow and I checked it to the dizzonk (in the seven seat), who bet his button. Turn was a blank and I checked, he bet. River was an eight and I checked, he bet, I called and he showed one eight. No good, idiot.
Then this chick sat down next to me that I’ve played with before but I always give her the big time treatment simply because she thinks she’s big time, so I just big time her back (note: if “big time” is not capitalized, I am referring to the action, not my best friend. If it reads “Big Time” then I am referring to my best friend/roommate.). She’s Vietnamese and white and she’s actually decent looking and nice. Plus she’s pretty good. Anyways, yesterday I decided to stop big timing her and I was pretty nice. She asked me if the seven seat sucked and I told her yes. Then she asked me for my name and I could tell I had her heart.
Unfortunately, I had to leave after only two hours at the table and a nice $285 profit, which gave me a total profit of $271 on the day in 2.5 hours. No big hands, I just took down a few $50-70 pots here and there. One dude called me down with a pair of kings when I had Ad4d on the button and the flop was AKx. Guess he thought I was bluffing. Sucka.
I left the soft game early to go to the after party in Hollywood. We were supposed to get there at 10 p.m. and we arrived at 10:45 p.m. and the line was about 700 people deep (no lie). They had the whole block closed off just so the line could be in the street. We knew it was a bad sign when Maurice Green couldn’t even get in. Damn.
So we hit our connect on the inside and he told us “Not much I can do, just wait it out. Might be worth the wait.”
Yeah, right. We’re gonna wait for an hour just to get rejected. So instead of wanna-be models and video hoes, we settled for Fat Burger. I think we came out ahead in that deal.
I’m gonna go play tonight and I’m trying to gain some momentum heading to Vegas on Friday. At least get the hotel paid for or something. I have a basketball game at 6 pm and a softball game at 730 pm but I’m skipping the softball game for the card game. Hopefully tomorrow I can finally put up my San Diego trip report but Faded T has my camera and I want to include the pics because he was captured in his finest moment Saturday night. So it has to wait.
I’m out.

gl tonight! I actually drove down from the central valley to the l.a. area where my bro lives. to play some cards for a week. I have to say, reading your blog and having my bro doing well playing cards here as well, motivated me to make the trip.
hehe

Thanks JD,
I'd recommend playing at either the Bicycle Casino, Hustler, or Commerce. Even though I play at Hollywood Park it's more on the low-class side and you can get some feisty players, but the action is great here. Let me know how it goes.
